Peter Jack, The Whip Man.

updated 13 July 2023

Peter,
The whip arrived today - it's awesome!
I'd already left for work when it arrived about 30 minutes thereafter. Stephanie called and said "you have a whip" then proceeded to crack it so I could hear it over the phone. Just the sound of it cracking, over the phone no less, convinced me before I ever had it in my hand that it was a good whip.
I wasn't disappointed when I did arrive home and pick it up. Excellent craftsmanship, and superb weighting and balance. Even though it's a brand new whip, the whip "moves" along the line very true, with very little effort. Truly a target whip in every since of the word. I've not had the opportunity to handle such a fine whip; even your other whips that I've had the pleasure of cracking seem to pale to the action of this whip this whip possesses.. It's fast, accurate and true. And, it's not broken in; that's the amazing aspect of it - it's not broken in what so ever, and it's smooth to the throw and very accurate.
You are indeed a Master Whip man - my compliments to your craftsmanship. Stephanie and I looked the whip over, lace by lace, appreciating the tightness and how solid the braiding is, and how you've seemingly tapered the lacing down to the end of the whip. So few people do that, and it means everything to how a whip flows.
Again, thank you. Attached are some pic's if you'd like to supplement your web site with some shots of the whip.
I look forward to a long relationship with the whip, and with you as well as we add to our collection over time. Please feel free to use my words if you'd like as recommendations to other potential buyers, as well as our email address should there be any questions.
Very Best Regards Sid and Stephanie

I can highly recommend the whips and products by Peter Jack, as well as "customer satisfaction". I first met Peter over the Internet, from other whip crackers recommending a visit to his site. I enjoyed the combination of information and low-key salesmanship. I later found out he was coming to the States for a conference I was attending. I met him, watched him work with whip neophytes and experts, and offer his experience and assistance on the spot. He charmed everyone and helped anyone. He overexerted himself teaching, explaining, working with all the conference attendees that he would frequently forget to eat food all day!

I myself was interested in one of his NZ-style cracks and found that my own supply of whips would not let me learn the correct way. Peter took time to inspect my whips, recommend which ones may assist my learning of that crack, but not once did he try to sell me his own whips. He was very low-key. I decided that it was time to buy one anyway, so, tearing him away from his volunteering with other people, we ordered a whip to be sent to me.

Peter was very thorough: he asked exactly what I wanted to use the whip for, how long a handle I preferred, thickness of handle, colors, designs I preferred. The price wound up to be exactly what I pay for other whips; for all of his knowledge, he did not charge more for the product, unlike some "designer" whip makers on the market.

The whip arrived in under two weeks from purchase, even though it was being sent from New Zealand to the States. He even sent a plastic jar of handmade wax lubricant (which smells wonderful everywhere) and a couple of extra crackers. The whip was beautiful, and to the exact specifications we discussed. I was not able to work the specific crack I wanted immediately, but through e-mail, Peter gave me pointers about the crack and in an hour after applying the advice (I had the printed e-mail with me while practicing), I could do that "NZ Drop" crack with both hands.

I cannot comment on my whip's durability, as I have only had it about 4 weeks. The quality is extremely high; the kangaroo strands are finely woven in what looks like a 16-plait. For my needs, he put shot approximately 2/3 down the length of the whip. He made the whip specifically to my requests, so I did not get an "assembly-line" product. I can assume that I can have a long life for this whip (as long as I can have -- I use the heck out of them), and I will continue to make orders with Peter.

Peter - My whip just got here and it is not what I expected as it is far better. This is my first whip from you and for sure it won't be the last and when my friends that are into whips see it they will have to have one to. Your work is some of the best I have ever seen. Thanks, Huk Planas.

Peter, I received my whip today, Tuesday, September 1/98. It's beautiful! Thanks. This is my first quality whip and the difference is amazing. Up until now I've been using a nylon and a cheap latigo. I can all ready do things I wasn't able to with those whips.

Thanks again for your quality workmanship and a reasonable price.

Peter, Wow, these are bloody good, mate! I mean, they are beautiful! I was out snapping them yesterday, and yes, they do snap different than a bullwhip. Can't snap them today, it's raining (can you believe it?) Thanks alot, I may have to buy a few more!

Again, thanks, they're great
